The Georgia Affordable Housing Coalition, Inc. is the premier organization representing the affordable housing industry in Georgia.
Incorporated in the fall of 1996, the Coalition represents the interests of developers, lenders, syndicators, and other related parties who participate in the state's Low Income Housing Credit program. The Coalition also supports a legislative agenda designed to increase the amount of state resources dedicated to affordable rental housing. The Coalition was instrumental in the passage of low-income housing credit legislation that created Georgia's state tax credit. To keep members informed, the Coalition publishes a newsletter and holds two annual conferences. The spring conference is open to members only; each fall, the Coalition sponsors the Georgia Affordable Housing Conference.
A 13-member Board of Directors oversees the operations of the organization. Members may join one of several committees, including Compliance, which deals with property management issues; DCA Liaison, which primarily responds to the Qualified Allocation Plan; Governmental Relations, which addresses legislative issues; and HOME, which focuses on issues which arise when combining conventional financing with HOME funds.
